Writing a Small Poem

What is the story? I signed up for the Summer Reading Club every year as a child, reading indoors and outdoors (like this photo taken by Aaron Burden) all summer long. That’s my BOOKS story — and my fourth June #smallpoem.

Now it’s your turn! What is your BOOKS story?

Ha! Love that acrostic. I used to have a set of book shelves that I would arrange and clean and then re-arrange. I’ve come to love audio books in the summer–can do things like weeding at the same time.

Long ago, probably middle-school & highschool, I remember playing my favorite songs on the record player, sitting in bed in my bedroom, and reading! I had a bookcase bed & filled it up with books, mine, from the library, old classics I had from grandparents. We’ve put up a sign similar to your poem, Anastasia, at the used bookstore where I work. Summer reading outside, the best!

What a great acrostic and reminder about this is a great time to read a book. I have two small poems on my blog this week.

I have a poem coming out in a new anthology about my “Big Box of Books” that I grew up with as a child. Not a short poem, but my June book story all the same 🙂

Anastasia, your small poem reminds me that summertime is the best time for reading. Live the good dream of stacking books and finding gems of words inside for small poems. Enjoy the summer!

Wonderful acrostic that brings back many memories of getting lost in summer reading.

Yes! My favorite thing about summer as a kid was more time for reading :>D

A fun acrostic, Anastasia. I’ll for sure follow the poem’s suggestion!

Great acrostic, and I will plan to do exactly what it says I should do. 😀
