JUNE

Writing a Small Poem

What is the story? What does June mean to you? For me, June is the beginning of summer, that wonderful time of the year when we camp out under the stars and share secrets. That’s what you see in this photo by BHossfeld. That’s my JUNE story.

Now it’s your turn! All this month, I’ll be writing June poems — and you’re invited to join me! Choose any poetic form you like and share your JUNE story poem in the comments of this June #smallpoem Challenge post. What is your JUNE story? I look forward to reading it!

sky miles and layovers
embraced by the grans
cooled by Colorado clouds
play and rest and play again
back on a plane
back to the grind

June Awe Walks

Breathe, new possibilities
Stroll, mind open
Pause, mindful
Tune in, sweet scenes
Breathe, June breezes

June’s moon.
A ripe strawberry
in a garden of stars.

It certainly means summer, lots more time outside, enjoying all the joys of growing things, but also, often as I can, it holds a visit to my brother back in Missouri, loving the fireflies that are not here in Colorado, visiting the older family, now resting in the cemetery, sharing old stories, hugging as much as possible before I leave again, till next time! Happy June to you!

No June story/poem to share today, Anastasia. But your lovely acrostic brought back sweet camping memories and that lovely feeling of just a few people huddled inside with the big wide wilderness outside…

Love you June story!

June is star skies.
June is home runs.
June is late nights.
Summertime begun.

June is chlorine
June is sun
June is campfires
Summertime fun.

Intriguing June story!
Here’s mine.

Welcome, June
Short, impossibly sweet
Packed with promise

Please don’t disappoint

June

tiny tomatoes
not yet red,
early sunshine
across my bed,
blooming flowers,
fresh peach pie,
flickering, flashing
firefly

June
a hot strawberry moon
warm days and summer nights
Juno, goddess of marriage and
childbirth
young children to fill the earth

This year, the June story started, “It was somebody’s birthday.”
And, yes, it was.
Not only was it the person’s who recounted the story, it was her mother’s as well.
The mother took over the story, “A cake was being made, when all plans were abandoned and we rushed to the car.”
