SUMMER SOLSTICE

SUMMER SOLSTICE

Writing a Small Poem

What is the story? We lived near the ocean when I was a child, so the summer solstice in June always reminds me the sea as shown in this photo taken by Vlad D. That’s my SUMMER SOLSTICE story — and my third June #smallpoem.

Now it’s your turn! What is your SUMMER SOLSTICE story?

oooooh, I adore short poems. I love to read them and write them. The solstice is such a great prompt. I’m off to have a think with your repetition of “shinging shinging” leading my way.

We’ve had such a mix of cool and rainy weather in May & now June but it is forecast that it will be a hot sunny day this coming Wednesday, the Solstice! I’ll remember your poem, Anastasia! I guess my long-time memory would be the childhood staying out playing so, so long into the firefly night! Happy Solstice ‘shining’ to you!

Anastasia, your lovely summer solstice poem sparked a thought in my head. It is related to the celebration we had last night for our sweet 6-year-old granddaughter. Thanks for the photo also. It brings me back to the Long Island shore where we moved from a couple of years ago to be closer to our grandgirls.

Thanks for your warming poem and image Anastasia, and the prompt. Here’s a short one back to you:
summer solstice shines
so bright, with firefies flicker
all through night…
